Hawzah News Agency- Ayatollah Mohsen Araki, Chairman of the World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought, met with Jusuf Kalla, Vice President of Indonesia, in Tehran on Saturday, December 3.
After the meeting, Ayatollah Araki attended a press conference in which he stated, “During the meeting, the Iranian side offered the Indonesian vice president to establish a representative office for the World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Sects as well as University of Islamic sects in Indonesia,”
He added, “The University of Islamic Sects has the necessary conditions to meet all the educational, cultural and social requirements of the Islamic world and we believe if these two suggestions are realized by the Indonesian government then the Islamic community would enjoy its great results,”
Reiterating that during his meeting with the Vice president they discussed current issues in the Islamic world, Ayatollah Araki asserted, “We strongly believe that Cooperation between great Islamic countries such as Iran and Indonesia could help solve many of the current problems in the Islamic World,”
Elsewhere in his remarks, the senior Shia cleric highlighted the unique economical and scientific capabilities of Iran and Indonesia saying, “We’re ready to develop our economic ties with Indonesia in addition to scientific and high-tech fields; certainly, such cooperation will benefit both our nations as well as the Islamic world,”
